Obviously I'm a big fan of mixed martial arts. I spend an insane amount of time to see the fighting and following the daily developments in the world of MMA. But even as a fan of the sport is difficult to see the second and third rounds of 126 UFC fight between Jake Ellenberger and Carlos Eduardo Rocha.
In the first round Rocha got a takedown and move to side control where he dominated the round of lateral control. There was a brief moment in which the fight ended almost an American presentation, but survived Ellenberger. The second and third rounds were fought standing with neither doing much in terms of actual work. Ellenberger occasionally hits the ground, while Rocha throwing wild shots tend to get lost. In the two rounds Ellenberger scored takedowns late to make a case to win the round.
SB Nation Ellenberger scored the bout 29-28.
The official scorecards read Rocha 30-27, 29-28 and 29-28 Ellenberger Ellenberger.
Jake had been able to face the # 1 contender Jon Fitch, but this performance is likely to see him go to the preliminaries.
